Mo Bic

Known as a pop artist with an enigmatic side, Mo Bic's new single ‘Hey Na Na’ has exploded on radio and put this pop artist on the world map.

There is something special happening with Mo Bic, the talented pop artist out of Hannover, Germany. A firm believer in the time-honored tradition of composition and careful attention to detail, Mo Bic's work demonstrates how personal and affecting music can be when the right elements come together. This legitimacy is discernible from other angles. He has a deep understanding of the techniques and traditions of the pop genre which is perhaps why the critics had this to say about his award-winning work: ‘Mo Bic's slick new groove heralds from the mindset that music is best experienced as an act of mutual worship - you can feel a primal urgency operating here.’ Reporter Blake Wright recently caught up with this talented artist to learn more about his unique story and his plans for the future.

BLAKE: When did you first get that feeling that your music career was gaining momentum?
I got the feeling that my music career was gaining momentum after releasing my first album (Mein Blickwinckel- My Point of View) in 2009. Unfortunately, the album wasn´t advertised due to lack of financial resources.

BLAKE: Your song ’Hey Na Na’ is receiving a positive listener response on radio. What was your initial reaction when you first heard your song playing on radio?
I am very excited that my music is now available in stores and played on the radio. It is a fine feeling to know that our visions and our message (as musicians) are strong enough to reach the citizens of the world.

BLAKE: What was the inspiration behind your debut radio single?
I listen with my heart, when people are talking. I want to speak to people from the bottom of my heart, I want to advise and also entertain them.

BLAKE: It is often said that great art arises from difficult experience. Is there something in your life experience thus far that you would describe as the ‘catalyst’ or ‘fuel’ for your desire to create music?
MO BIC: Das stimmt! That's true! Michael Jackson inspired me. The waterfalls of life give me the strength to keep going over and over again.

BLAKE: How would you characterize yourself as an artist/musician? (Ex. Down-to-earth, serious, fun-loving, complicated…)
It depends on the kind of fall or rise.

BLAKE: What has your experience been like working with the other people on your team?
Learning never stops. It is always a good experience to work with other artists.

BLAKE: Did you come from a musical background? Are there other musicians in your family?
MO BIC: Nicht wirklich! Not really! My father was a businessman and my mother enjoyed singing together with other sisters and I. Just like me, my brother decided to become a musician. He occasionally sings with alternative musicians (Rap).

BLAKE: What do you find most rewarding about being an artist? What do you find most challenging?
Egal in welchem Land. The most rewarding is to help people. I'm trying to give people hope because there is no such thing as a life without highs and lows. On some days, it is easy to handle the situation and on other days we cry. What I find most challenging is as an immigrant, to give a good account of oneself. In any country.

BLAKE: Who are your role models in music?
MO BIC: Michael Jackson.

BLAKE: Describe your best or most memorable performance.
Every performance is unique. No matter if I perform in front of three or a few thousand people, they all deserve the same show.

BLAKE: What advice would you give to young, aspiring artists out there who are unsure and need guidance?
MO BIC: Nicht aufgeben! Never give up!

BLAKE: What's next for you as an artist? Is there a new single in the works? If so, what can you tell us about it?
MO BIC: Ich arbeite an meinem neuen Album, lasst Euch überraschen. I'm working on my new album, let me surprise you.

BLAKE: That sounds great! Thank you for giving us a peek into your life as an artist. I wish you continued success in your career.
