Independent reporter Alexis Adams recently caught up with L3v3l Three to discuss his music and the interesting path by which he came to it.

ALEXIS: Let's just get this out in the open- What is the craziest thing that has happened to you in your music career?
L3V3L THREE: Showing up at a gig and our equipment didn’t show up with us and having to ask the other band to use their equipment which was such an epic fail.

ALEXIS: Your song ’Sunday Kinda Groove’ is receiving a positive listener response on radio. What was your initial reaction when you first heard your song playing on radio?
L3V3L THREE: I think you are always excited for that first radio play and want to share it with everyone in your circle.

ALEXIS: What was the inspiration behind your debut radio single?
L3V3L THREE: I love a mix of sax and piano, combined with a little subtle guitar riffs and Sundays are for easy listening and just reflecting which seems to go with the mood of the song.

ALEXIS: It is often said that great art arises from difficult experience. Is there something in your life experience thus far that you would describe as the ‘catalyst’ or ‘fuel’ for your desire to create music?
L3V3L THREE: Believing in you? Coming from such an accomplished musical family I simply wanted to create my own path to success without the name attached to it.

ALEXIS: How would you characterize yourself as an artist/musician? (Ex. Down-to-earth, serious, fun-loving, complicated…)
L3V3L THREE: I think all of the above would be fitting! Each day you wear a different hat and I believe that on any given day you are who you are meant to be. I am very down-to-earth.

ALEXIS: What has your experience been like working with the other people on your team?
L3V3L THREE: You know success is a funny thing? You lose friends and you gain friends what transforms the bond of band members can be the same thing that breaks them up.

ALEXIS: Did you come from a musical background? Are there other musicians in your family?
L3V3L THREE: I credit my uncle who is one of the greatest blues singers here in the Houston area as well as my aunt one of the great pioneers of boogie blues piano along with Fats Domino.

ALEXIS: What do you find most rewarding about being an artist? What do you find most challenging?
L3V3L THREE: Rewarding hands down would be the creation of music and the effects it has on others. Most challenging would have to be the day to day grind of keeping the band and the brand strong in the current music industry climate as a whole.

ALEXIS: Who are your role models in music?
L3V3L THREE: There are too many to name however those artist that have stayed the test of time are truly the best role models in the industry for new & upcoming artist.

ALEXIS: Describe your best or most memorable performance.
L3V3L THREE: I would have to say singing for the BISHOP of the Catholic Church which was so emotional and heartfelt it touched many in the audience that day.

ALEXIS: What advice would you give to young, aspiring artists out there who are unsure and need guidance?
L3V3L THREE: Believe, Believe, Realistic, Realistic, in yourself, set realistic goals, negative never works but hard work and faith in you art will garner you much success.

ALEXIS: What's next for you as an artist? Is there a new single in the works? If so, what can you tell us about it?
L3V3L THREE: Working on bringing more quality music to the forefront. The new single is called "A Thousand Tears” it reflects on moving forward after love has failed.

ALEXIS: Very exciting, I can't wait! Thank you for taking the time to let us into your world as an artist. I wish you continued success in your career.
